The Timor-Leste & Australia Economic and Business Conference, a collaborative effort organized by the Governments of Australia and Timor-Leste, was held over three days from June 11-13, 2024, with the main conference taking place on June 12 at City 8 in Dili. The event aimed to strengthen economic ties and promote sustainable development in Timor-Leste. Initially created as a platform to foster dialogue and collaboration, the conference has grown into a significant event for stakeholders from various industries.

Discussions centered on enhancing economic partnerships between Timor-Leste and Australia, with an emphasis on mutual benefits and sustainable development. Business leaders, policymakers, investors, and academics gathered to explore and leverage economic opportunities in Timor-Leste. The event covered key sectors such as agribusiness, construction and engineering, labour mobility, manufacturing and trade, mining, and tourism and hospitality, marking a significant milestone in the economic collaboration between the two countries.

The conference featured influential speakers, including government officials, business executives, and academic experts, who shared their perspectives on economic development and bilateral trade. Emphasizing innovation, collaboration, and strategic investment as key drivers of economic growth, the speakers highlighted Timor-Leste’s potential as a hub for various industries and urged stakeholders to explore new business avenues.

The Trade Fair: Showcasing Timorese Ingenuity

Aligned with the conference, a significant Trade Fair provided a platform for Timor-Leste businesses to showcase their innovative products and services to an international audience. This event was pivotal in highlighting the potential and capabilities of Timor-Leste’s emerging market, offering a unique opportunity for local businesses to connect with global partners and investors.

Sales Luis Group at the Trade Fair

Among the standout participants was Sales Luis Group, a Timorese-owned manufacturing company established in 2019 by visionary entrepreneur Steven Ferreira da Costa Sales Luis. At their booth, Sales Luis Group showcased their diverse range of products, including the neutral spirit “Coronel”, to the pilsner “Caspoll Beer,” and the ready-to-drink cocktails “Caipirinha” and “Sangria.” These beverages, crafted with high-quality ingredients and reflecting local flavors, garnered significant attention from attendees.

Networking and Partnerships

During the Trade Fair, Sales Luis Group’s booth became a focal point for numerous visitors, including local entrepreneurs and international business representatives from Australia. The fair facilitated meaningful connections, allowing Sales Luis Group to discuss potential collaborations and distribution opportunities with various stakeholders.

Key Interaction: Perissos Distributor

One of the most promising interactions was with the Perissos Distributor company. Following their initial meeting at the Trade Fair, the owner and his son visited Steven’s factory to explore the possibility of distributing Sales Luis Group’s beverages. This visit underscored the interest and potential for Sales Luis Group to expand its market reach beyond Timor-Leste, tapping into the International market.

 

The following day, we welcomed a visit to our factory from Perissos distributor on Thursday, June 14, 2024.
